A while ago I posted some fairly harsh comments about my Maingear Ephex and my experiences with customer service.

After my most recent round of tech support/service, I have to apologize to all of the great hard-working people at Maingear Computers, especially Giovanni. I was way too premature in my criticism.

My machine, although lacking a window, was still the fastest computer on the West Coast and although I wasn't totally happy with Vista Ultimate, the machine still rocked. Then one of my three video cards went bad. I contacted Giovanni a bit nervously, hoping he didn't read my posted comments. He quite simply was awesome, and walked me through a few tests on my machine before advising me to send it in. Once it arrived, he determined right away (the day it arrived) that one of the watercooled video cards needed replacing . Further after listening to my complaints about my small 32 GB flash system drive, he suggested replacing it with a s*** hot 300 GB VelociRaptor (review here- http://www.storagereview.com/WD3000BLFS.sr) And he offered to install a dual boot configuration with XP Pro SP3 and Vista Ultimate 64 and retune the machine, adding a few extras that had come out since my computer originally shipped. And finally, he explained patiently that he didn't send my case window as requested because he needed to have my machine in their shop so that the new window paint job would match the color of my computer.

(The video cards of course was replaced per warranty without charging me for the price of rigging up the watercooling all over again. All of the other upgrades, I should state, were done at extremely reasonable prices, but I can't say how much for fear of setting Maingear up for a flood of informal upgrade requests. Sorry).

So the rest of the story is that my computer is now ten times better, faster, quieter, more reliable and flexible than before, which is saying something. I apologize to all at Maingear for ever doubting them. Their tech support is superb, their machines are cleanly-constructed works of art and I would without hesitation buy another computer from them. My Maingear experience is now only highs with no lows.

Thank you.
