For those of you who like Star Wars related PC games, you maybe aware of the decision from Lucasarts of not releasing its last title, The Force Unleashed, for PC but just for the console. I’m a big fan of Star Wars games and had maybe bought and played all of them, together with other Lucasarts games, and I find this decision insulting for all us PC gamers, or at least to those interested in the game

In any case, there is an electronic petition going around asking Lucasarts to please release the game for PC. If you’re interested you can sign it here:

The game looks soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing and I wish they would release it for pc. The pc market of theirs has generally had a very large fanbase.

You know why they decided that, don't you? Piracy; some publishers claim that they lose 40% or more of their pc game sales due to piracy. I don't think a petition is going to change their minds.

Piracy of course is the reason, even if Lucas$$$ gave a very laughable comment that the game has "graphics so advanced" that "only a $4,000+ machine will run it the way an X-Box will" Yeah right, a $700 PC can run Crisys Warhead and a X-box can run Unleashed but a cheap gaming PC can't? it bothers me that they don't put things straight

Piracy is becoming a big issue for us PC gamers, and if things don't change we wil see this trend more and more, to a point that in a few years having a PC for gaming will allow you to play only a very small number of games. It will even threaten companies as MG that builds the machines

And I don't see a solution to this problem, as all the DRM gets easily overcome by pirates in a few days, and it only creates a hasle for us, honest PC gamers

I wonder if PC games dissapear, would pirates move into the console arena? what makes consoles games harder to ilegally copy? I'm not sure about this answer, but something tells me that piracy won't dissapear, it wil just move to consoles

Console games are actually easier to pirate because the only protection that are in the way is encryption on the disc. Once someone cracks that any game could be taken, shared on the internet, put on a DVD/disc that has enough space,, and then run a modded console that knows where to look on the different discs.
