This beautiful rig will be used mostly for school work. Working full time and attending school full time unfortunately cuts down my hours of pleasureful gaming. I expect all resident Maingear reps. to make sure my system gets extra loving.

I'll add my order to the list rather than start a new thread. Like Barbarian and HCA, I ordered an F131. Rafael took my order and I have to say, I received complete and honest answers to my build questions (I had previously e-mailed some questions to the sales divisions at Maingear as well as other boutique companies). Looks like we will all be enjoying some blazing fast rigs in a couple of weeks.

Hell yea..Team Maingear, yo! FTW!

I'm way stoked. Have never had a seriously ubah rig. Ive built my own always before, and put together some decent stuff, but not anywhere comparable to what I have a coming. Totally overkill for the game I play, but, like any enthusiast, I want all the horsepower my wallet will allow...just BECAUSE DAMNIT! $$

Besides, with Vista on the verge, want to have a machine able to rock with the best!

I'm in the same boat XBarbarian. I always had to compromise with my computer since I do a lot of work from home. I just wanted to treat myself to a good gaming rig. I'll save my laptop for work and keep the F131 for gaming.

Thanks for the welcome all.

:banghead: man I wish I could, but we value everyone of our customers like family and we want to treat each and everyone with the upmost respect. I know some people have been worried about shipping time and not knowing what is going on. I just want to say be patient and we will take care of everyone, we are working hard and extending our working hours to make sure everyone is satisfied. Remember that questions you have you can leave them on the forums or email us directly at support@mainear.com or even my email Peter@maingear.com

And I hate to say this, because it sounds like a cop-out but if you know me and have been reading the forums you know that I am honest, many of our delays are due to exterior problems such as our distributors. Many parts are on major backorder and due to that we are experiencing some delays.

Besides, that's Maingear's pride; the attention to detail. Last thing anyone would want is for Maingear to lose its reputation and just throw systems together. That would make them just like every-other vendor out there.

I for one agree with the quality over quantity theory. And as far as I'm concerned, take all the time you need. It's worth the wait. :)

1) No light bar inside of chassis, only LED Fans (minor issue I know)

Overall, I can live with it. Vista is running like a champ.

I wonder if I have the first MG shipped with Vista.

My system came in on Saturday. I've been putting it through some long hours of gaming and no problems. I had it running for twelve hours straight on Vanguard which is a system hog and it remained cool and steady (I was getting over 70 FPS on balanced settings and 50 with all the game graphic bells and whistles turned).

It did ship without drivers installed for the sound card which was odd and two discs were cracked in the binder (one of them was the sound card drivers). Not a big deal since I downloaded the current drivers from Creative. In addition Main Gear was kind enough to throw in some extras due to the late shipping. Thank you Raphael and Wallace.

Nickelby:

Do u think the cracked disks in the binder were a result of poor packaging, or do u think they were shipped that way?

Well, as a Velocity Micro owner who has had no problems, I was torn between VM and MG. Needless to say, Rafael called me and "convinced" me to try out MG. Of course the good reviews with ResellerRatings, [H]ardOCP, CPU, and Maximum PC magazines helped. :) Ordered a Black, 1000W, E6700 (OC) w/Zalman 9500, WD 500, Lightscribe 20x, nVidia 8800GTX, X-Fi Extreme Gamer, w/Vista Home.

Any suggestions on the keyboard, mouse, and monitor? I am leaning toward a Dell 2407 Widescreen or Samsung 244T. I have a Razer Diamondback, with this VM that I just love, so am leaning toward a Razer keyboard and mouse. My only concern is whether the Razer stuff has new Vista drivers. I asked the company in an e-mail, but they haven't responded. Excited to join the Maingear crowd! Will post my experience here and at Reseller Ratings. Respectfully, Frank & Sue Whorton

P.S. I add Sue because she is the one who "made" me buy. She is an EQ2 addict and wants to get back online with her husband.

In terms of mouse/keyboard, stick with what you have.
I have tried them all and enjoy the logitech G series, but also loved the razor line for FPS style games, as it was lighter and more finger movement actions.

Keybaord is a tough one, if you are going to be playing an MMO you might want to look into the logitech G keyboards, or the satek (spelling?). Never used either, but have many friends/online players who love them.

Hey Frank and Sue!

Grats on taking the plunge. I can honestly say, based on my experience with Maingear, you will not regret it.

I TRULY LOVE the Logitech G7 laser cordless I got with my F 131. The reason... it is wireless, but comes with (2) batteries, one is in, the other is being charged in the base unit for the wireless, so when 1 dies, pop, insert, keep on going. beats the hell out of a wireless where you have to put in the base to charge, once those die, you need a another mouse while it charges. The G7 is really great. It's also painted to color match my F 131.

I have the Saitek Eclipse 2 keyboard as well, also color matched. It's back lit, multi color choosable, I love the wction of the keys on this. I also like the G15 Keyboard by Logitech. I haven't used one, but everyone I know that does, loves it. I just left my EQ1 character, and am now playing WoW. My GL in EQ1 loved his G15 because the lcd offered good in game infoz on the keyboard, as well, as the programmable buttons.

My copperhead is detected by vista. Have not tried to install the software for it or the tarantula KB. I guess I'll try and see what happens :D

Whorton 5:

The Dell 2407 has a response time of 16ms. If you are going all out for a nice gamimg system, it would be nice to go for the full experience. If your want to stick to one of these 24inch monitors, I'd say go for the Samsung. There are also complaints about Dell's 2407 model, and you can read that here:
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/dell-2407-24inch-display-draws-complaints-174098.php

If you can live with a smaller one, 19inch, I would recomend a ViewSonic VX922 19" with a response time of 2ms. You can pick one up for about $260 at newegg.com. I got mine about 2 months ago and simply love it.

Hope that helps.

Regarding the Dell 2407, the banding issue discussed in the article Nosfera posted has been resolved with the current revision of the monitor, according to what I've read. I too have been considering an upgrade, and in most places I've seen it has reviewed flawlessly. As long as you get the new model (2407WFP), which is the only one for sale on the dell website, you should probably be OK.

Regarding keyboard and mouse, I too like Razer stuff. I also enjoy the Saitek gaming keyboard. It is pretty basic, but it feels right to me.

Good luck, and enjoy your PC when it comes. (Mine should arrive on Friday, stupid FedEx and Presidents day weekend...)

What Saitek Model? This Creative keyboard (branded for VM) that came with my VM is sufficient, so I am not really sold on spending near 100 for a Razer keyboard (now the mouse is a different story...that's almost always in my hand and I am really used to the low profile, mousewheel feel and sensitivity of the Razer Diamondback I have.

I'd order the Dell today, but they upped the price back up to 750 again. For that, I might just go with the Samsung 244T.

Edit: By the way - I see the Dell as 6ms response not 16 - at least according to my PCGamer.

Sorry - I meant to second Xbarb's comment on the Saitek Eclipse 2 keyboard. I have one and quite like it. If you are satisfied with the KB you have already though I'd keep it. The Eclipse 2 is good, but not life changingly so.

Well, took the plunge on the keyboard and mouse today. Picked up a Razer Tarantula from Circuit City.com for $79, no tax, no shipping. Ordered a Razer Death Adder from Amazon.com Sue and I are partial to Razer mice now that Velocity hooked us with this Diamondback.

That just leaves us with whatever wires I need to buy for those crazy M-Audio speakers, a monitor, and a Cat 6 cable for the router. Thanks for all your input.

EDIT: Ordered a Dell 2407 FPW today since the price was back down to $674 with free shipping.
