Hey!

I was going to email, but I thought a public discourse may be better.

As we know, I have a kick butt Maingear F131 on order. It has the Nvidia Nforce 680i mobo, which is reviewed as a top notch board. However, have seen a lot postings on tom's, [H], etc...a few issues with it as well

Xi-F- compatibility? Cracks and pops?

There was the raid issue

Random reboots - I believe this issue has been tied to Nvidia's NTune app for o/c etc

I believe that the p23 bios fixed some of this, although I have sen that several users on the various forums seem to continue to have issues with the Xi-F, and end up using the Audigy SE? as a work around.

Have the techs at Maingear found true resolution to these? I would assume so, because warrant returns etc..eat into the margin on a sale, so i would guess you wouldn't be confident continuing to use them if you hadn't.

Is Maingear still confident in using these for their boutique custom builds?

Until now, I have always built my own. This time, I had the money and the laziness to decide to just get a SOLID, top o the line, custom rig, o/c'd by the integrator, custom wired, and warrantied. A showcase is my hope. One of the primary reasons for this, as opposed to getting a "crooked e" top o the line machine is the the use of name brand, top quality parts. Yes, I could spend more, if I bumped to two 8800's, 4gb ram instead of 2, and a quad core cpu, but for the config I went with, it's pretty much the best out there. I have much less allegiance to this mobo board being used, as I do have for Maingear to build me the best I can buy at this price point.

With any large purchase the inherent , non tangible is trust in the integrity of the Integrator. That is evidenced by fairly sincere reviews, like [H], telling the world this what we did, this is exactly what we saw. The foundation of trust, is clear and simple communication.

"hey guys, after shipping this board for a while now, we have come to the conclusion that there maybe better solutions out there, lets talk about options"

"hey Don, we are slammed right now, and distributors are backed up on the parts we want, a more realistic time expectation is like 3-4 weeks +, unless we want to look at other options"

Those are scenarios that increase trust, not erode it. I look at my Maingear purchase as my expression to have the best I can get, within reason. Just like buying a Lamborghini implies hand crafted building, and possibly a 6 month wait to get that, as opposed to screw it, just get it done, even if it means it's less than what we used to do. So far my customer service experience has been exactly what I expected, actually has exceeded , as they have been more than helpful with my stupid check card issues ) with the exception of a "real email" that was obviously a standard template thing ( sorry Pete, I am a network admin by profession, and I know the difference  )

So, back on topic, if Maingear found that they, and their customers, were not fully satisfied with the current Mobo, would you plainly reach out to existing orders, and discuss alternatives and or changes? Have you tested enough to be satisfied that it remains the best you can offer, and that accordingly, we the customers that drop a pretty penny for a smokin Maingear build, are getting the best bang we can?

*hugs*

thanks!

Don Turner

PS: no this isn't buyers remorse, as a matter of fact, I couldn't be more confident in My Maingear purchase! I am proud of my research ( Yes, I first heard of you from [H], but then I read as many other reviews and forums as I could find ) and conclusion to choose Maingear! I just intend to hold you to that level of expectation!
