Hello, decided to go to the forums as I saw a tab on top of the website. After, much research from a ton of different companies from around the globe even some from Europe and Across Seas I have decided to go with MainGear as my #1 Choice. Believe it or not but I'm from England Originally and I came across the Prysma in an Article online and thought it looked very cool. Than began looking up various companies and reviews and stumbled upon a few websites and than finally got directed by a great fella to HardOCP Review From This year and last year and after reading them and comparing them to the others, I said to myself "who wouldn't choose this company". Being a long time Gamer myself and enjoying life to the fullest, I'm going with MainGear not later but now! I was not going to be buying Vista for at least 2 Years or so, but I'm pretty sure that my MainGear will be able to handle it.

Ok now to tell ya what I Bought!

Grats on your purchase, now the fun part of waiting...
Welcome to the community also, this is a fun place to be.

One quick question on your setup (which I must say makes me drool):
~Why only 2 gigs of ram? With the new Vista system, and all of that, why not go for the 4 gigs?
If you wanted to stay underish 6k I understand, just wondering.

Edit:
:homer:

I think I will upgrade that later on.

Is 4gb going to help more than 2gb?

As in XP my old machine had 4gb of ram but it made me slower than on 2gb

Well, in XP it only ran up to (read that is) 3gigs of ram.
The new OS takes advantage of 4gigs+ which can help it run smoother, etc.
Also (this is future talk), many games are going to be hungering for that extra ram. Yet like you said you can always upgrade to two more gigs later, which might be the best idea since you do not "need" it right now.

Once again, /drool over that system. It is the exact specs (other than 4gigs) I want if I decided to buy a new PC.

Ah, I guess I'll call them up tonight to change my order than not a bad idea.

Thanks for your gratitude.

My understanding was that only the 64-bit version of Vista would take advantage of 4GB of RAM. You may want to check that before you shell out the extra few hundred.

I am doing some searches and 4gigs should be fine, but are you getting 64bit of 32bit?

~I would say go 64, as many new apps/games will be using it, but also know that MANY things are not working with 64 (driver wise).

Edit: General (not facts) seem 32bit tops out at 4gigs.

Well now - looks like I may be buying a couple sticks of ram in the (relatively) near future. Thanks for the table Dreamer.

No problem. Just remember though that not everything (software/apps/game) wise even harnesses the extra ram yet. While some things do it will be another 6 months before we need it, since Hell London, etc. come out.

~Edit: Just read something that stated Vista 32bit will not support HD play back, you must have 64bit.

Hmm ya your right I should go AMD or something but than i would have to get a Beast. The beast looks Superb just not sure if i want to spend another $800 Extra on it.

But I think the Quad Core will do me fine.

Isn't Quad Core > AMD 4x4

5 Years from now 64bit may be more common I just don't see a lot of software moving towards it at a fast pace at the moment. And by that time I'll just buy another MainGear!

Yes, Intel > AMD currently.
AMD has been having problems keeping up in the race lately, but hopefully they will come back.

You WILL be happy. As far as 64 bit chipsets both AMD and Intel's newest lineup are 64 bit capable. I checked cause I just got ULIMATE Vista Packaging In the mail which Includes both version (32 and 64)

If you buy the retail Vista you get both 32/64 bit, but if you buy OEM you only get to choose which version you want.

I'm sure AMD will be rocking this year. I hear there is a new product coming out with some speciality features i think maybe GPU and CPU on same piece.

I would want to wait and all but the Quad Core is going to be lasting a while.

My friend has a Dual-Core laptop is it blows just about everything you throw out so with Quad i hope to Increase my power by about 300%
