Hello,
I am planning on buying my new gaming computer through Main Gear. I am still confused about one thing mainly.
I play Eq2 and would like to try Vanguard sometime, my computer wil be mainly a gaming rig.

Should i go with Vista or XP, i am leaning towards Xp. I have read varied reports on Vista gaming issues.
I plan on spending about 3500-4000 on my rig. This is the main thing holding me back.

Any suggestions on a good rig would really help me. If someone has good raid gaming exp, i could use some suggestions.

Thank you :)

Which do you think you are going with with that price range?
F131 or Prelude?

I know a few of the guys here play EQ2 and some have tried Vanguard; personally I am suggesting XP right now. Mainly because gamers just like to be able to plug and go without any fuss.

:welcome: also.

Welcome to the boards Amoresira! I play both EQ2 and Vanguard on XP and they run great. I haven't honestly tried them on Vista yet so I can't give you an answer from personal experience. The EQ2 and Vanguard forums have posts from people who play on Vista and the results seem mixed. Personally, I would probably hold out another six months or so...

screw Vista .at least for now

pretty damn lame that MS knew they had **** and still released it anyways

and all they have done is re enforce the old adage of "wait til sp1..."

I am going to try Vanguard with my new Prelude Vista system sometime next week. Just waiting for Newegg to replace the faulty monitor so I can enjoy this system))

I will let you know how it runs once I am on)

Amoresira, I started playing Vanguard last night for about 4 hours on my new Prelude Vista system and incountered zero problems. FPS averaged around 55 in outdoor zones. Have not tweaked ingame settings

I am savvy enough to change most things on a computer, such as a Graphics card etc. But software messes me up, so the less issues the better.

Thanks, i am thinking of a prelude, with a Qx6700, and a 150 W.B.Raptor , the video card will most likely be a 7300 for now, since Eq2 has issues with the 8800 Drivers. and i can wait till the prices drop a bit.

Gaming can be a pain, to bad i am so addicted ;)

Just as a heads up, I've been running EQ2 on my 8800GTS daily for over three months now and I haven't had a single issue. I'm not sure what issues you've heard of but thought you should know that it actually runs very well. I have my settings higher than the "screenshot" mode used by InfoCenter or ProfitUI and it runs awesome...I still crank it down on raids but that's because I like ultra fast response during raids :)
