I'm curious what kind of temperatures you're seeing on SLI GTX 480's and Tri-SLI GTX 480's in the Shift chassis when running benchmarks and then in a program like Furmark. Every review I've read is pointing out how these cards run Hot Hot Hot. I'm interested to know how the Shift is helping with the heat dissipation in that situation especially in a multi-gpu setup.

There's still a lot left to test, lol...I'm working on that...

The bottom line is these cards **** juice and run hot.

But we've really put 3-way through its paces with a SHIFT fully integrated and the side panel on and top grill in place.

It's rock steady.

I'd love to get some time to come by the shop and see one of these babies in action, especially with the new sound dampening foam. I know these new cards are loud when the fans crank all the way up but I'd be interested to hear that in a closed system like the Shift. Maybe when I get closer to purchasing my new rig Nvidia will have something out that doesn't sound like a hair dryer when it cranks up.

I can see from your benchmarks that the cards are delivering great FPS in the tests so far and scaling very well when you go from one card to SLI of two cards. It's great news that they are so stable in both SLI and Tri-SLI in the Shift. I never had any doubts the Shift would deliver great thermals even with a card running as hot as the new Fermi cards apparently do.

Keep up the good work Chris as I'm sure everybody looks forward to more benchmarks with that beast of a testing rig you have setup.

Temps holding at 91C across all three cards while running Heaven @ 1920x1200. Fan speeds are 55, 67, and 74%. Sound is not bad at all. AcoustiPack plus our top grill really mutes it. Not offensive to me...probably to widdlecat though. ;)

widdlecat can probably hear my fans. :D

LOL

BTW, it seems like Fermi allows itself to heat up above 90C before jacking up fan speeds - so the result of better cooling is only just slightly better thermals, but drastically better acoustics. Interesting.

Yes MoonGear, I can hear your fans from my house! LOL!

Will you be offering the 480GTX in the xcube?

Yes MoonGear, I can hear your fans from my house! LOL!

I just knew it! :) And here I am, barely able to hear them from the next room if I work at it. Which makes me pretty happy, considering what I used to put up with.
