Hey there, just a quick question. Will MG overclock A E6600 processor and if so, what is considered a safe overclock. 2.8 ghz?? Is there an additional charge for overclocking?

Thanks,
I got my eye on a Prelude....

:welcome:

I believe they do not over clock the preludes unfortunately.
They only allow that on the F131 line, and the Beast.

~Now, I am sure you can (possibly easily) do it yourself if you are only looking at the Prelude, but there might be a voiding warranty thing if you do.

Edit: Added the beast.

They only overclock the F131 and they usually take it to 3.0 GHz. The exact clock speed depends on the individual processor, but they promise at least that.

Just FYI, I recently bought an F131 with the OC'd E6600. I had been thinking of a Prelude, too. But, the F131, with the OC'd E6600, gives you more bang for the buck. I say that because with the F131 you get a processor that runs faster, slightly, than the much more expensive X6800 plus you get faster memory (I suspect that there are other configuration factors that contribute to better performance, too). I had figured most of this out on my own, but the MG tech confirmed it. I encourage you to talk to them, you don't have to worry that they will try to sell you something. When I called they just gave advice and only when asked. They never tried to sell me anything. The question of, "Are you ready to buy?" never came up.
