I'm not a huge gamer but when I'm looking at the bench tests I wanted something that would last me awhile. I went with the hexcore because I do a lot of dvd/blu ray ripping and this processor is amazing at it. I got the 70 pound box delivered 1 day after it was shipped. I took the day off to make sure I got it into my house ok. Getting the box up the stairs was a challenge but I was so excited it really didn't matter. The box is pretty amazing. I got a nice tshirt a mouse pad and mini screw driver kit that will come in handy.

So how is the actual computer?

Well I hooked it all up and it loaded right up. The computer I had was pretty old and all the other systems I've seen had bloated programs from the local big box stores. This computer had very little on it and loaed up in no time. I'm able to rip dvds at 220fps which is a huge time saver. I'm also able to rip blu rays at about 29fps. THis is the main reason I got the comptuer and I am more then happy.

A few days before I got the computer I talked threw email with a few of the empolyees and on the phone as well and they were all great to deal with. I was put on hold the first time I called and they thought I was disconnected so they called me right back, even thought I was still on hold. Most companies would just assume you'd call them back.

I am by no means the target customer of maingear but with the reviews I saw on line and the first hand customer service I've seen I can't think of another computer manufacture that I would want to do bussiness with. These guys are great.

Thanx again to the team at maingear for giving me exactly what I want...

Welcome to the club Brian, sounds like you got a fabulous rig for ripping DVD's and blu rays and gaming. There's nothing like MAINGEAR adrenaline to help a huge box fly up a flight of stairs! I'm envious that you got a mouse pad too! If that's a MAINGEAR mousepad I'd love to see a pic of it, and your new rig as well. Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend with your new Shift but don't forget to go outside once in a while!

Hey Ricky, another maingear owner in mass huh? Small world I guess. My next project is to buy the hauppague tuner and record hd video right to my computer. I'm sure the shift can handle it. I've already ripped a few blu rays and converted them today. Don't worry I'm still leaving the house. Even with this processor it;s still taking a few hours.

Gotta love how it's packaged for ease of setup! I'm small enough to fit inside the box, but was able to set my SHIFT up by myself! LOL! You've got yourself one hot rig there! Have fun with it! =)

Thanx for all the replies guys... I had my first minor issue, more user error more then anything and the tech help at main gear couldn't be better. I called them up and they walk me threw step by step on how to address my issue. This computer is truely amazing. I am able to convert a blu ray movie to an iso file in under 20 mins... god knows how long it would have taken on my old p4 system...
