In the past week in which I have used this laptop, I must say, I am very impressed with the quality of the build and the professionalism in Maingear's customer service. They personally called my phone let me know that a few changes had been made to the laptop and that as a result, the laptop would be shipped with an upgraded videocard and Blu-Ray drive free of charge. Cool! The laptop is classy and nondescript unlike many high-performance laptops which tend to look cheesy and conspicuous. The laptop runs exactly as it should, and I have not encountered any problems thus far. My only complaint is that the laptop lacks a Firewire port. I was planning to purchase an external audio interface/microphone preamp which runs on Firewire (due to the faster speed), so I can record on the go, however, I am having to revisit my plans to do so. Most USB-powered interfaces are slower and have lower-quality microphone preamps, so I am struggling to find a quality affordable solution. Overall 9/10. Great work!
EDIT: I do realize I can get a PCMCIA-type expansion card, however, I would still have liked to see a single port on the laptop itself, because most expansion cards tend to be cumbersome, and my goal is easy, quality, mobile recording.
