Hi, all.
It's been quite a while since I've posted, but I wanted to stop by to drop a line recognizing the MG folks again.
I've had a MG system since I ordered an Ephex back in the summer of 2007 (I think my review of the original system is probably still buried here somewhere in the forums towards the beginning pages!). Anyway, I discovered to my dismay the other day that it wouldn't boot into the OS. Very sad.
So here we are, 3 years later, and I'm still able to call MG and have them help me. They were friendly and patient as I attempted to open up the system and diagnose (with the on-phone tech) the problem. This is not exactly something I'm good at (and one of the main reasons why I turn to these guys to build and assist me with my system), but they were extremely courteous. Unfortunately, we weren't able to ID the problem, so I sent the Ephex in.
As it turns out, the cooling system had gone bad. "No big deal," was the MG folks' response. "We'll replace it with the newer system that works better anyway." Awesome! So on top of that, I decided to consult with them about upgrading (and by "I," I mean my wife did most of the work here -- and she knows even less about systems than I!) since it was in for repair anyway. As usual, the MG staff (Gus deserves particular mention, but all of the staff we spoke with were great), were extremely helpful, making suggestions for potential improvements while keeping the costs at what I thought were very reasonable.
So this isn't really a new system review, but I wanted to pop back in to once again thank the MG team for all of their help. Oh, and the system is back at home now, and it is once again awesome!
Thanks, guys. I'll undoubtedly be back in another couple of years!
