One of my sticks of Corsair XMS2 8500C5 memory went bad on me over the weekend. Me worry? No way! A quick call to Maingear ( waited only a few seconds before Giovanni answered ) and they hooked me up with a replacement stick. This is the third time they have come through for me. As all owners of a Maingear system know, their tech support is incredible. This post is intended for those considering a purchase. I can assure you, and you don't have to take my word for it, check resellerrating.com, you will not regret purchasing a system from Maingear. Thanks, Giovanni.

This post is intended for those considering a purchase.

I am indeed strongly considering MainGear. I thought that Puget Custom Computers was the clear leader in quality craftsmanship, customer service, and support. But from what I see and hear MainGear may be just as good in that reguard.

And to boot MainGear is less expensive.

When your computer was initially shipped to you, was it at all damaged in transit?

Absolutely not, Brian. The system was packaged quite well. My initial problems were of the sort that come with being an early adopter of technology. A note of warning, line the floor with cushions when you open the box. Your jaw will hit the floor when you see this beauty. Good luck with your purchase decision. I, for one, have had no regrets.

Brian, sincerely, maingear is TOP Notch. Have had mine about 6 months now. I could not be happier about my choice of integrator.

In my case, the puter wouldn't boot with the bad stick in place. Whether on its own or in combination with the working stick. I also tried switching slots. I could boot to Windows while only using the working memory alone. With the new sticks my F-131 boots up without a problem. But I agree, diagnosing bad memory can be very difficult.

best way to check is to use memtest on a bootable disc. CD or floppy. Mmm floppy discs. Remember 5.25" discs. Notching the write protection off the other side to make a two sided disc...god I ramble.
