Hey Folks,
Iam not to far away from ordering a new F131 rig! I would be gratefull for opinions and advice on 19" non widescreen LCD monitors. There seems to be a plethora of choices on the market. My new rig will be used exclusively for gaming. Some of the brands that Ive been looking at are Viewsonic VX922, Samsung 931c and 940bx, HP LP1965 and a couple LG models that I cant recall the model numbers. All had fast refresh rates, high brightness specs, high contrast ratios etc. My budget is $250-$300 for the monitor.Bottom line is this- The $3000 I'll be spending on the F131 will be wasted if the monitor is not able to perform! I look foward to hearing from you.
Thanking you in advance!

Personally, I recommend Samsung because that is all I've used for years and love them. Not to say that those others aren't great monitors as well, I just prefer Samsung :)

I had a Dell 2405FPW 24 Inch widescreen, and it was great, but having a native resolution of 1920x1200 sucks for gaming, since it requires so much dang power.
I ended up selling it, and using the money to get a Samsung 226BW 22 inch widescreen. It has a native resolution of 1680x1050, which is still pretty high, but a lot better than 1920x1200, plus it has a 2ms response time. I love it.
But just be careful, for some reason, the Samsung 226BW comes in three different versions, 2 of the 3 are good, but one of them has an extremely cheap and crappy panel. Can't remember which one, but its all over forums around the net.
But in my opinion, Samsung makes the best LCDs, I have had 2 or 3 LCD monitors, and two LCD HDTVs, all made by Samsung, and they are all great quality.

I'm going to agree...I love Samsung products. Have a 22" widescreen and am looking at the 30" to pick up soon.
wow...before I had posted this some how on RottynDawgs last post...I must have hit edit instead of quote and it went to his post...haha...sorry about that...

Thanks for the responses! New question - Are there any drawbacks to gaming on a widescreen LCD. The new rig will have a 8800GTS 640 or GTX 768, now if I can only decide on a F131 or the new Ephex, decisions, decisions! I dont believe the higher resolutions will be a problem with either of these cards i.e. 1600x1200 or 1680x1058.But how do games "look" on a widescreen and do most games have the ability to work in a widescreen format? Looking forward to hear from you
Thanking you in advance!

Many most games that are coming out are, I believe EA is not doing it though I could be wrong. Many games scale up nicely, like I play WC3 on my laptop that is widesceen so I know it is stretched & can tell, but it looks fine.

NEC multisync 20wgx2 ive heard is one kick ass 20inch monitor for games. there is a widescreen and non widescreen version either way, but it was ranked best picture quality by custompc magazine which is not your average american gamer mag, its from britain, theyre way more hardcore than we are here. This was of course 6months ago though haha.

I'm going to leave it just in case anyone else may find some use out of it.
