Before ordering the level of service was outstanding from being able to talk to people on the phone to timely email responses regarding my budget and needs as a computer user. I learned many little things such as the main difference between workstation and gaming graphics (stability and drivers).
They kept me very well informed through the whole process once ordered. I never once felt out of the loop on the build process.
I was like a kid in a candy store when it finally arrived and boy was it packaged well, it took a couple minutes to get everything out. It was great to see the plastic maingear binder included which was a great touch, something that I have never seem before. Inside there was a little multi-tool, mouse pad, and t-shirt along with the usual cd's and user guide.
I first had a bit of trouble with my C drive filling up even though I thought I was installing everything on the D drive. I called Maingear about this issue and they were aware of the problem but did not have a definitive fix for keeping 100% of applications on the D drive. I later found out that this is a windows related issue and it involves that the application has the ability to choose how it is installed and how it interacts with windows to an extent. So I continued to comb through the C drive and found that I had 16 Gb of virtual memory and a 16 Gb hibernation file on there. I removed the hibernation file and reduced the virtual memory down to next to nothing, this isn't all that important since I have 16 Gb of RAM. After the small configuration issues were worked out (my fault) this thing has been great. I have had no issues running Autodesk Inventor or Maya on it along with the basic computer user programs such as office. I was curious as to what would slow this thing down since multitasking using the mentioned programs wasn't doing it so I bought Crysis 2 since Maximum PC it can really tax a system. Well again no issues with playability and I have room to upgrade to either a better graphics card or add second if it ever becomes an issue (doubtful). It has since brought out the gamer in me again, my last video game purchase was on the original X-box. Any game recommendations would be awesome.
The only thing I wish I had, or could find more of for sale, are maingear t-shirts (hint, hint)
One more thing with the integrated wifi even though it is quite convenient I for some reason cannot locate 5GHz signals with it. I don't know if the card is capable of 5GHz. Also since the internal wifi is housed in a beautiful metal case, router positioning is really important for a strong signal strength.
If I can connect to 5GHz would that help with range/signal strength?
How well do the plug in USB adapters work or would I be better off trying to add an extender to the network itself?
Again this is my fault not Maingear's, the computer is flawless in looks and performance thanks guys
