First of all, I'm not a Gamer but a Video Editor. I run mainly Adobe Premiere 5.5, After Effects and Audition on the computer F131 with followings specs in a nutshell:
- Asus X58
- i7 980 6 Core with HT
- 24 GB of RAM
- GTX580
- 3x VelociRaptor 10kRPM 600GB (2 of which running on the 6Gbps SATA port) + 1 Samsung HD 1TB
- Windows 7 Professional
I use the system now for 2 weeks and am totally impressed about speed, reliability, rendering speeds and quality of this system. My video production is about 5 times faster as on my old quad i5, 8GB RAM. To work in After Effects is a dream. All effects can be
watched in real-time. Premiere Pro uses the Mercury Engine via the GTX580 that enhances the speed significantly.
My system is 100% stable. When scrubbing fast on the timeline on my old computer, premiere pro crashed once in a while. Not any more. Whatever I do now - Rock Solid!!!
I was especially surprised about the GTX580. I use 2 Monitors (Dell 3011 with 2560x1600) and (Dell 2408 2ith 1920x1200) on the same GTX580. I didn't believe it that I can run both Monitors with 32 bit color and 60Hz refresh-rate. This is a real dream for video editing to have that much real-estate, especially when working in HD.
I had one small problem though in the beginning when I added the 2 VelociRaptors HD's to the system after the computer has been delivered. I used the 6Gb/sec SATA ports on the motherboard. Both drives showed up on startup and then suddenly disappeared. One phone call to MAINGEAR. Within 3 minutes of the call I hat a rep on the line. He took over my system remotely over the Internet, downloaded a new driver for the X58 motherboard, installed it and voila, everything works and no more problems!
I really have to get rid of some good words and compliments about the Maingear customer service. It's the best I have ever experienced in my computer experience. Fast, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient...
After all I'm going to recommend Maingear the Video-Editing Community.
Thanks for the excellence!!! :)
