Hey have you seen the review that Maingear got on its latest X-Cube I believe by C-net?

I don't have small form factor, but if the review from C-net is that good and by the experiences I have had with maingear, im sure you wont find a better place then this.

I also have been looking into upgrading my PC (which is currently 3 years old).

I enjoy having a top of the line, but show as little as possible. Which I know can come with a price. Which is where my questions come in, how loud is the X-cube just ideal on the desktop & how loud is it in full performance?

Also, how is the heat on the unit, will I ever feel the case get hot to the touch or can it maintan a good tempture?

Thanks for the help.

Hello Dreamer,
Thank you for your geniune interest on our products. Our X-Cube is just as quiet as a desktop computer. We have a series of 80mm fans intaking cool air and exhausting hot air throughout the system. Unlike some our competitors which use loud 60mm fans that do not push enough air.

Thank You

Thank you for the quick reply. Sounds like a good setup, I read over the Cnet review and was very pleased with how things looked.

I probably won't be buying a computer for a few months, but I like to do alot of research before buying. (Took me 3 months to buy my laptop, plus another 5 weeks to be made & delivered.)

I read in the review that since they got a 7950GX2 or something, they could only have a physics card & no sound card. As I don't believe I need a physics card for my system, if I get a 7950 (not the GX2) could I put a sound card & a physics card (later down the round) in the system with out any problems? Problems I could think of would be, heat, combatabilty, space for the new card.

Thanks.

With a 7950GT, you'll be able to fit a Physx and a Sound card with no problems. By the time you purchase your system, you might want to invest on a DX10 card. NVIDIA is launching two new cards; GeForce 8800GTS and the GeForce 8800GTX. Both these cards will be DirectX10.

Check out Crysis, this game will take advantage of DX10.

Yeah, I know about the new graphics cards & Crysis (which looks crazy if they can make it live up to all the hype).

Like I said, I won't be ordering a computer for awhile, while I could build my own, I don't have the patience anymore or the time to build one.

I guess I will just have to wait for the DX10 cards to come out & see some post by you guys to see what you throw into your system.

One suggestion if I could make, I am debating your color option (300 bucks is not bad), but I want to see pictures or the cases in the color. I don't know if you guys have case just laying around that you could take pictures of, but it would be a nice edition. Especially so people can see what they will look like & if the color they thought about will be the right shade.

Just a thought, and thanks for the help. I will wait for the DX10. Hope your system are smashing when the new cards come out

We are actually very glad that you made some of those suggestions. Truth be told, we are currently in the process of bringing our main website up-to-date with new pictures and descriptions of our new product lines.

Also, our price for custom paint jobs is no longer 300 dollars. We now offer all our custom in-house paint jobs absolutely free. In case you want to reference that, check out our main webpage under the desktop systems, or click the following link. http://www.maingear.com/products-tower2.shtml You will notice that under the option for paint, within the F-131 configurations, there is no longer an upgraded charge.

Thank you very much for your interest,

No, we are not changing anything about the X-Cube, except of course configurations. We pride our X-Cube for being one of the strongest and quietest in the business.

WOW....

That looks awesome, it is so tempting to just call & order now.
I have a few more questions about the cube:
~Will the 8800 cards fit into the case without problems, heating, space, noise?
~If not, will you modify your cases so they can at some point?

My reasons, I don't know if I will want 8800 card when I buy a computer, but with DX10 I feel by the time I want to buy it will be necessary.

Thanks.

8800GTX and GTS will fit in the X-Cube without a problem. The cooling system on the cards work real well together, it acts as an exhaust. If your buying a new system today, DX10 cards are the way to go.
