wich monitor ?

Hi,
First time I've ever posted anywhere, my question is, should I get a 27in. or 30in. monitor? I have the ephex with a 8650 at 3.3 oc. dual 8800 ultras,
and 4 gigs of ram. I would really like to get the 305t samsung but I'm worried about framerates. I'm running the 24in. samsung right now in crysis I'm only getting 27 to 30 fps with 1900 by 1200 res. at medium settings.
My concern is going to 2560 by 1600 won"t that kill gameing?

Welcome aboard Snuff!

Two 8800 Ultras and that processor should be able to pull a 30" monitor no problem. Based on what I've read of Crysis, I'm not sure I would use that as a basis for standard ops.

Snuff, turn-off post-processing and set shaders to med or low. With that kind of system you should be getting better results and I know that these two settings definitley will help. Welcome to the boards. :)

thanks for the responses, I did as you said trashman, it did help, I'm in the 30's and 40's now, still my consern is, I have to turn everything down to med. and low to get this game to run at 1900 x 1200 res. what would happen at a higher res.? on the other hand cod4 runs perfectly.
I wanted to add I don't type, so I tend to be brief, I also see I don't spell to great. thanks again.

i have the 305t. i have to say it is a great monitor. its mighty awesome being able to see EVERYTHING at once. on the other hand it only has 60mhz refresh rate. with my specs now i play crysis on 1600 x 1200, all settings on very high and the motion blured turned off. any higher res and it starts to chug or studer. i can play any other game so far on max res, settings though...

thanks jdbrown, i was hoping to hear from you ,as we do have the same system other than mobo. i've checked your pics before, it is indeed a beutiful system. i did more research and i felt confident enough to purchase. I am excited.

no problems :D, and i would love to see your system as well. dont take what i said the wrong way about the 60mhz though. it is an awesome monitor. great quality...myself im picky and i want faster. i dont really notice to be honest though. ive played and beat crysis and cod4; as well as played a bunch of other games.

looks good red, makes me wonder if i should have gotten mine painted blue. i was considering it. blue, black , or silver. i chose black because i like it and i would get my pc faster lol !

see where it says thumbnail at the top then it says original at the bottom. if you post the direct to the thumbnail one it will be small. if you post the original it will be whatever size you uploaded.
