I know a lot of folks use apps that allow you to game without putting in your game disk. Anybody have one they recommend (or some other method with the same end for that matter)?

I personally use Alcohol 120% to make an image of the game CD and then the virtual drive to mount it:

If you already have software capable of making a true image, you can use Daemon Tools for free:

Actually, it looks like Daemon Tools now has a "Pro Advanced" version capable of creating the image and mounting it just like Alcohol 120%. I haven't used it so I don't know which one performs better.

Cool. I'll try one of these methods once I get me pc back from the shop and test it a bit first.
The reason for the question actually, is that the Witcher has some anti-piracy stuff built in so that if it thinks that you have a pirated disk, it disables key NPCs in the game. effectively not allowing you to complete key quests to progress in the game. It does this via the dvd-drive, and it's flawed... certain drive models it chokes on and it seems mine is one of them.--this happened to me about 15-20 hours in. From the forums I've read if you use a no-cd method, you bypass this flawed drm system.
