Before i say anything i wanna let you guys know, Gears of War as of right now has the best graphics, best A-I, best physics, and probably the funnest game youll put your hands on this year, i [NEVER] played a shooter game on a console untill Gears of War and it was so amazingly [EASY] to just pick up and play that i ended up beating the game in acouple of days if you havent gotten it yet go out and get it what are you waiting for!!.... :bandan:

Anyway.. im not a big console shooter type guy, I'll always stay loyal to PC Gaming for the rest of my days (lol) even though i loved GoW for xbox360 i always had in the back of my mind "wow if its this fun shootin people with a controller imagine with my nice ferrari red painted F131 with matching saitek keyboard and a logitech G5 mouse" (yep thats my rig ) so it looks like my prayers came true! i was checkin IGN.com out the other day and found this :

"A possible PC version of Gears of War has been confirmed by Epic Games, possibly featuring some bonus content not seen in the Xbox 360 version."

This game on the 360 has broken some barriers and shown us how far the xbox's potential can reach for now of course (since im trusting in microsoft since they released to the public that they would be sending updates for people with HD TV to get a clearer or better looking gameplay i guess and some other stuff im not 100% sure.), just imagine the possibilities on PC. :flipa:

Some Screenshots of Gears of War:

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be. The X-box 360 is has multiplayer online capabilites and PC games always seem to edge out in that department if you ask me.

Yeh, they didnt mention anything about online play but considering it has online capabilities for xbox360 im pretty sure Epic Games will launch the pc version with the same online capabilities if not better.

I'm pretty sure GoW uses the Unreal Engine 3. I'm not sure about this, but I think it's likely that the Unreal Engine will be optimized for DX10. So it's possible that by the time GoW hits PC it will look hella prettier.

Needless to say though, the 360 is more powerful than a lot of people's PCs. The card is basically an x1900xt, but with unified shaders. I almost don't want to say it since I own an nVidia SLI system, but there's just no denying that ATI's current platform has better image quality than nVidia's 7-series cards. Fortunately nVidia has struck back for now, but the R600 may well beat up on it. Point of my rambling being that GoW may just look better on the 360 than it does on a lot of people's PCs. Assuming of course you have an HDTV.

just thought comment again on this since its out now.
anyone have this game on pc yet. i have it for xbox 360. i have beat it and it is hands down one of the best games ever made.

i just got it for pc myself, played it a bit. runs smooth as silk on my pc. and looks amazing, better than the 360 version and you can control it so great with the mouse.

that said i love the game definitely, but the best game ever made i still think is mario 64. hell yeah ! lol!.....
i wish they would make one for xbox 360 or pc..that would be awesome
along with a billion other games; double dragon, pac-man,contra( a good one)..i could go on for days.

As cool as that one looks, I think I may just pass this time around. There are so many good games coming out, and this one is going to lose out to COD4 and Crysis in my book...

i have to agree, but for the extra story line and the graphics its worth it. but if you have played it on 360 its probably not worth spending the cash when you could spend it on the others.

Also this is not a FPS, but a third person shooter. For a console this is perfect, but for a PC I have never gotten into third person shooters.

i agree. i never really did either. they are just not as fun to play.
on the other hand you can use a xbox 360 controller on the pc so thats a plus. i have both versions of the game. personally its one of my favorites so i have both versions. but i do prefer FPS games on pc; or FPS altogether. they are my fav genre

Did a search for this game, came up with this thread.

Is there some trick to actually getting this game to start up?

I'm using Vista 64, everything's updated, specs easily exceed recommended.

As best I can tell, the install of the game was flawless, but I simply cannot get past the splash screen and get the game to start before I get a "no response" message and it simply shuts down.

Any ideas? I'm about ready to just uninstall it and forget about it.

I think playing third-person shooters(Gunz the Duel :owned: ) for too long has impaired my ability to play FPSs.

Are you launching the game from the DVD? If you are, don't do it. Use the games explorer windows....start menu -> then select Games on the right.

I've tried it every conceivable way you can imagine and I get the same end result.

I'll look into this further.

Did you even go as far as to manually set the .exe file to "run as administrator" and/or "Windows XP" compatibility mode?

Yup, that one's even better. That's when I start getting the "Please insert the correct DVD-ROM" message even though the correct disc is in there, it reads it perfectly, and all of that.

I guess it just isn't meant to be.

Dang, odd one for sure!

It is. I think I have bad luck. I have 75 unresolved problems with no solutions in Vista 64 since I took delivery of my system a couple of weeks ago. As best I can tell, none of them are serious computer issues or hardware issues but virtually all gaming related and most of them are Crysis's fault, which won't shock anyone.

So this little hiccup is just kind of the extra slap in the face I really didn't need.

Amazingly enough, I didn't have this particular problem. The patch installed perfectly. Unfortunately, it didn't do me any good.

EDIT: I did a complete and clean uninstall and reinstall of the game and it made no difference.
