Hello All. The maingear server is up and running so let's get it on!!!! We are playing Hardcore Mode on a 32 man server. This is really a test run for maingear and there could be changes by maingear to the server at anytime they please. You can copy and past this link in your cod4 console~

I tried to get in there last night, but I had some serious issues with COD4 crashing my system. I didn't used to have that problem until they introduced the 1.5 patch, so I'm concerned that with the new patch that I'm not going to be able to hit the MG server...

Has anyone else had issues with COD4, especially since 1.5, and found a way to fix them? If so, please share!

What exactly are your issues? I'm running vista 32 bit and I'm patched to 1.5 no problems. Be sure that Punkbuster is enabled in your filter menu from Cod4. Go to www.evenbalance.com to get the latest PB updates. People were being kicked lastnight because of PB issues. Let me know what your message says when you get kicked if any. I've seen this problem before but it's definitley not the patch. Usually PB will be the culprit. Also be sure to disable your firewall while getting updates from PB and I recommend turning off antivirus and firewall settings while your gaming to avoid conflicts and have a better gaming experience performance wise.

My issues weren't with PB. I was playing 1.4 with updated PB with no problem. However, when I updated to 1.5, COD4 started crashing on me and giving me errors (not PB messages). I actually ended up having to reinstall my OS (64-bit Vista) because there was some kind of corruption going on. The only thing I can think that caused it was the 1.5 version, as that's the only new patch I'd added prior to getting the issues. Since I've reinstalled Vista, I haven't been able to get COD4 to run after updating to 1.5 -- always crashes with an error. Can't remember what the error is though because I'm away from the system at work.

Your situation is new to me blindem. If you tried everything I recommended and it still happens then it's beyond me. I don't know of anyone else having this problem and I play with about 30- 40 others regularly. The only problems were my suggestions that I posted and that resolved all issues. I hope you can get it fixed and I will ask around to see if theres a solution for you. :cry: If you care to you can try uninstalling cod4 again then reinstall. But if your sure it crashed your OS then I wouldn't do it personally. Do you have xfire or a way I can communicate with you to try and help you out? Quick edit your running 64 bit? Not sure if theres a difference between 32 and 64 while playing cod4. Try right clicking and running cod4 as admin. I don't but I'm running 32. Keep me posted.

I will. I've tried reinstalling COD4 and repatching everything twice now, and it's still giving me problems. I'm hoping to play with it more over the weekend (when I have some time) to see if I can get it functioning again. Who knows, it may just be a case of Vista not playing well with others (no big surprise there...)

Could be. But I'm running vista 32 and some others are running 64 no issues. Computers can drive you nuts at times :roll: I hope you get it worked out and I get to play with another M.G. owner on the maingear server. :)

I'm back up and running, but it seems that every time I check out the MG server that it is empty. What are the usual times when I might be able to find a game there?

I popped into the server lastnight to play some COD4. Wallace, Giovanni, Guss, and I might be forgetting someone here not sure. We played a few rounds and it was fun killing the builders of my MG pc!!!! Wallace looked promising in the begining but then I saw Gio kickin some butt!!! Hope you guys pop back in there to play again because that was really fun!!!! Also I noticed Hardcore Mode wasn't in there since the update to 1.6. What do you guys think of putting that in there?
