Hey everyone, I recently purchased a Maingear PC back in September of 2006 and I just thought I would share my experience with everyone. I really want everyone to know the kind of quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service Maingear offers, they have treated me so well and this is the best way I can think of repaying them, with a well-deserved review. I have pretty much owned some poor quality computers throughout my life. The first a Packard Bell which was garbage, the second was a Hewlett Packard which was a very cheap low end machine which I did upgrade a bit and has served me well over the past few years. Around August of 2006 I began looking into getting a new computer seeing as how I am now in college and my HP just wasn’t reliable and fast enough for the work I needed to do. I researched various computer builders like Dell and HP as well the boutique builders like Alienware, Voodoo, and Falcon Northwest. During my research I came across Maingear through their review on HardOCP.com and was astonished by the review they received, especially the customer service mentioned in their review. I visited Maingear’s website and after looking at the contact info I was blown away to find that Maingear’s headquarters was located in my home town of Union, NJ and that they were actually 5 minutes from my house. I don’t know how I ever missed it in the first place but I decided to stop by with a friend of mine.
My first experience was with Wendell and he was great, real informative and he basically described the quality and expertise of Maingear to me and had no problem walking me around the store and even showing me where all the PC’s are constructed. I was almost immediately sold. I came back again later and began discussing my budget with Wallace, the owner of Maingear. I explained to him that my budget was essentially $2,500 which I think is fair for a quality PC. We began going over hardware and what I would be using the PC for and after totaling everything up, we had a F131 PC which was a bit over my budget. Wallace agreed that quality of parts was more important than immediate profit and told me he would build my PC for the budget I had told him despite having gone over it. I knew then and there that I had made the right choice with Maingear. Wallace immediately began the production of my PC and I regularly visited to check up on its progress and just chat with Wallace, Wendell, and Giovanni.
The great thing about Maingear is that all of the staff is just as big an enthusiast of PC’s and gaming as most of the consumers of their products. I recommend anyone local to Maingear to stop by and speak with a representative, it’s a lot of fun talking about anything from cars to the new Battlefield 2142 with these guys and their hilarious.
Maingear was a clear choice for me because:

1. they are local to me and their customer service is second to none so I don’t have to worry about shipping my PC if there is ever a problem, not that I think their ever will be. I recently stopped by just to say hi and Wallace immediately told my to bring my PC back to install a slew of new updates and drivers for my motherboard and other hardware, and told me he was going to installing more fans for better cooling of my PC, all of this without a word from me, reassuring me that I made the right choice with Maingear

2. All of the representatives are there to make sure you get the best experience with your new PC, unlike some other boutique builders who are just after hard profits, Maingear’s pricing is justified in the craftsmanship and customer service they offer with their rigs

3. The price is practically a steal when you factor in parts, labor, and the amount of tech support they offer long after you buy a PC from them. I can go on and on talking about how great Maingear is but I think its pretty much understood already how great these guys really are. I think my best suggestion to anyone looking into a new PC is go with Maingear, you will not be disappointed.

P.S. (Just another fine example of Maingear’s customer service that just popped into my head was when I was having issues installing a new hard drive in my girlfriend’s computer and how I brought it to Giovanni who immediately examined it and let me know what the issue was, free of charge THAT’S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!)
Well anyway here are the specs of the PC I had built at Maingear:

Seasonic 600W S12 Power Supply
Asus P5W DH Deluxe/WIFI-AP
Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo (Overclocked)

Western Digital SE16 250GB 7200RPM 16MB Hard Drive

16x Dual Layer DVDRW w/ Lightscribe
ATI Radeon X1900 XTX PCI-e 512MB

Sorry about the long post but I just want to make sure everyone understands how great Maingear really is. ANYONE CONSIDERING BUYING A MAINGEAR PC BUT IS STILL UNSURE, READ THIS POST AND YOU WILL BE READY TO MAKE YOUR PURCHASE. I feel this is the least I can do seeing as how I have been treated like family by everyone at Maingear.

Thank you very much for sharing your review and pictures. I just ordered a computer from them last week for similar reasons and I couldn't agree with you more about the quality of computers and service they offer. This story shows just how far they will go for their customers; I don't know of ANY manufacturer that would work with you on pricing like that.

NaturesHoney, that is a good question. They have links to a few reviews of their X-Cube system that make it sound like a great system as well. I imagine you would honestly be very happy with either one and from what I read, Maingear takes great pride in their X-Cube systems. Let us know what you decide on!

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I just can't stress enough how much I love this computer and Maingear for building it for me. As for the X-Cube or a tower, I am sure you will be just as satisfied with either one as they will both be built with Maingear's maticulous care and craftsmanship along with the best products on the market right now. I look forward to finally stepping up to a graphically demanding game for the first time in my PC owning life with Battlefield 2142.

Gio and Wendell have welcomed me to play with them so I look forward to that, now how many other PC builders can say that their techs are willing to game with you? lol

Personally I love the blue, I saw it in person on one of my visit's to Maingear and it looks awesome, it has a nice flake to it, same color as the Subaru WRX's, awesome color but the inferno red looks great too.

Awesome. Only thing I don't like is the wheels on the Lian-Li v1000. I kind of prefer the old PC-6070 case with the door and all that. But I guess I'm biased, because that's what I use.
